Carrying
Up and down to the same toboggan? In that case we suggest you carry the sledge to prevent dangerous situations.
Comfortable sitting position
In this way you con on a straight course, spare your leg muscles. This also applies to the not so sporty ones.

Left curve and right curve
Steering with your weight placed into the wanted direction, in addition pulling of the steering rope on lifted angle of the inside. Like that you lift up the inside runner. With your foot (ankle bone) put pressure on the outside runner. The sledge moves into desired direction.
Position lying - correctly
Good fort the stomach muscles of the sporty sledger!
Position lying - incorrectly
Do not danger yourself and others!

Important recommendations:
- Sturdy boots or walking boots for a safe ascent a/o
descent and sled shoes with spikes for precise
braking
on hard snow and icy tracks
- Warm gloves with maximum freedom of movement
- Helmet for maximum safety
- Bicycle lock as precaution against theft
Correct behaviour on the track:
- Keep an eye on the track when walking up!
- If possible, walk up to the side of the run and carry
sled, or walk along the inside bend!
- Never stop on blind bends!
- Do not underestimate speed of descent!
- Break properly and in time in order to arrive at the
bottom of the track safely!
- When sledging at night, do not forget your torch on
non-lit runs! |
Correct preparation of runners:
- Sharpen the runners with sandpaper
- For hard snow and icy tracks: take off runners and sharpen the
inside edge of
runner on sanding machines (break off the outer
edge)
- Polish the blades with a polishing wheel or block
- When assembling the runners, the edges of the runners should
be 1-2 mm closer
together at the front than at the back.
- Clean the runners with wax remover, wax and brush the
structure of the runners!
- After using sled dry runners straight away in order to prevent
rust from setting in!
- Wax the runners after the winter before putting them away for
storage!
Correct maintenance of sled:
- Never leave sled in car or in direct sunlight for long periods
of time
- When sled does not seem to be sliding properly, get an expert
to look at it
- Store in a cool, dry place
- Store lying down or standing up
- Loosen runner screws
- Never load with other objects or lean on its side
